Yes, in between Dancing With the Stars and the Boston Marathon and ex-boyfriends, I have been watching the news as well, and it’s all very sad. But worse than what’s happening now with the memorials and the finger-pointing and the interviews with someone who knew someone, I can’t help but cringe thinking that right now, some hack in Hollywood is writing a “ripped from the headlines” episode of Law and Order or CSI, or probably both.
Since I’m still in Vonnegut mode, I’ll give you another sad but true quote. It’s sure to haunt you the next time some jackass reporter shoves a microphone in front of a clearly traumatized victim/witness/family member and asks how much blood they saw, or how devestated they are:
“One of the few good things about modern times: If you die horribly on television, you will not have died in vain. You will have entertained us.”
Read a book instead.
